With three million USD in funding already raised, Practically Green is just getting greener and greener, helping to bring their online tools, which encourage corporate employees to act sustainably, to more companies.

Practically Green is a mobile and web software company encouraging corporate employees of external companies to switch to environmentally sustainable and healthy living habits by keeping track of their activity and commitment and works directly with companies to promote sustainable living among employees. The start-up already boasts Unilever, MGM Resorts International, NBC Universal and eBay among its growing list of clients.

The technology requires the clients’ employees to identify the areas of sustainability that interest them such as environmental sustainability, family and fitness. The platform, which can be customised depending on the client’s core values, allows employees to participate in competitions i.e. Car Pooling, Saving Energy, Gardening, eating healthy/organic and further measuring and comparing their progress and activities via mobile apps, a specialised intranet and email with friends lending a sense of fun competition and community to the overall feel.

According to BizJournals.com, Practically Green was founded in 2010 by Susan Hunt Stevens, CEO, “who was inspired by the LEED system for evaluating and recognising designers and developers that incorporate green features into buildings”.

Susan Hunt Stevens, in a press release, said that “Companies who are engaging people in sustainability and responsibility strategies are outperforming their peers and are setting themselves up to thrive in a changing global business climate. We are thrilled that our technology platform is supporting these initiatives and powering unique and lasting positive change at some of the largest corporations in the world”.

Acting sustainably with the help of innovative ideas and tools isn’t anything very unique in this decade of TIMES (Telecommunications, IT, Media, E-Commerce, Service Provider) but still Practically Green has been able to establish its base and get resources by offering corporates flexibility to create their own consumer sustainability programs tailored to their specific goals through Practically Green’s technology.
