The deadline for applications for this year’s Ecosummit Award is just a few weeks away. Smart green start ups are encouraged to take part. Nominees go in the running to win some financial support and, importantly, will have their application analysed by the Award jury, comprised of 65 green innovation experts.
In just under two months, the ninth edition of Ecosummit Berlin will get underway in the German capital, drawing an estimated 250 participants from the areas of green energy, mobility and architecture for two days of networking, startup pitching and conferences. Ecosummit’s mandate is all about helping new green startups that have an innovative product or service to offer by giving them a platform to meet with and pitch to potential investors and advisors.
Another avenue through which startups can receive support is via the Ecosummit Award which offers a financial prize (between 500 – 1,500 EUR) to startups that can demonstrate commercial viability, innovation and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
Entrants will have the opportunity to have their application judged by an independent, expert jury made up of venture capitalists, accelerators, corporates, service providers and specialised press who will assess each nomination based on business potential (product market fit, revenues and competitiveness), product innovation and environmental impact.
Previous winners include Sonnenbatterie, which offers solar energy storage solutions; Orcan Energy, which develops modules that recycle excess heat into electricity; and Sefaira, which offers smart green-building software.
Applications are being accepted in two categories: early stage startup (less than two million in revenue in 2014) and late stage startup (over two million in revenue in 2014) until Wednesday, 15 April. The Awards will be presented on the evening of Tuesday, 19 May at Radialsystem.
