Got a vision for how to shape India’s urban future? Sign up for Indian Institute for Human Settlements’ (IIHS) National Student Challenge where tertiary-level students will have the opportunity to devise and discuss ideas for sustainable urban planning.

IIHS is calling upon the brightest minds to come together and hammer out viable options for sustainable, inclusive urban planning. The National Student Challenge (NSC) will see 25 groups of three to five students compete to develop solutions to issues relating to urbanisation, looking at key areas such as mobility, housing, livelihoods, education, safety and violence, and disaster risk reduction.

The NSC is open to anyone currently enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses and, once applicants have been whittled down into teams, participants will have to identify and address one urban challenge to go in the running to win Rs 300,000 to put towards implementation of their solution courtesy of the Rockefeller Foundation. Teams will be supported by mentors each step of the way and will present their solution in early December at the IIHS Bangalore Campus.

Applications close Monday 9 September and all entry details can be found via IIHS’ website.
