Boston University professor, Ranga B. Myneni, is calling on citizens across the globe to lobby the United Nations to step up its action on climate change.
Professor Myneni, a climate change specialist, uses satellite data to assess the impact of global warming on vegetation. With 30 years experience under his belt, he has witnessed firsthand the way climate change is effecting life on our planet.
Frustrated at the lack of strict policy implementation to attack climate change on the global scale (despite scientific evidence stating action is needed), Professor Myneni launched 'Your Climate Change' in March this year, to highlight the effect that climate change has on the populaton as a whole and as individuals. Professor Myneni is looking to collect 1 billion signatures before Earth Day 2014 (22 April) and personally deliver the petition to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
At the time of publishing, 11,471 signatures had been collected globally. Head over to the dedicated site to lend your support, find out more about the initiative and get some useful facts about climate change.
