This past October saw one of our project partners fulfill one of its goals: a solar panel (financed via RESET) was installed in the Kitefu primary school in Tanzania! The panel will, for the first time, bring electricity to the school – light for 792 students and 24 teachers.

The long days during the rainy season no longer need to be spent in the dark. Teachers can prepare their lessons after nightfall. The school can stay open during the evening and become a place of learning and collaboration for the community: sustainable electrification has countless positive aspects. We are delighted to have been able to make this possible via your donations! Get an introduction to the project here: Solar Power for Kitefu Primary School in Arusha.

The school finally has electricity to power the three laptops and mobile phones. Through this, basic IT lessons can be taught to the students while teachers can use the internet to search for additional teaching resources. The solar power system can also be used as a learning material to teach students about sustainability, renewable energy and electronics.

As part of the project, Mobisol (the supplier of the panel) held a project day with the children where they explained the advantages of renewable energy; the harmful aspects of using kerosene lamps and how emissions contribute to global warming; as well the how the panel works.

The solar panel has been installed on the school’s rooftop

With the new panel, renewables are made clear and there is a big chance that children and teachers will share their new knowledge and experiences with their families and promote topics such as renewable energy and environmental protection in their community.

A big thank you to Lisa Schwarz for her tireless efforts on site. The students, teachers and parents send an Asante Sana to all supporters!
