Vending machine for cars, do they exist? Yes, they do.
No! I am not kidding. Take a look at Hangzhou, located in eastern China with over nine million people. With rising prosperity and development in cities in developing countries, people want to have a car for ease of travel and to use as a status symbol.
Terrifyingly, if everyone is able to own a car, you can well imagine what would happen to this earth, where rising pollution is already a concern. The streets would jam, parking space would be an issue and of course how can we miss out on the air and noise pollution. No matter how hard we try to make people aware of the consequences, there will still be an urge to have a better mode of transportation.
How about if I say you can have a car even if you do not have the resources to buy one and parking space won’t be a problem. Did I miss something? Pollution? Nah, that won’t be an issue either.
Well let me not confuse you anymore. I come to my point: Kandi Technologies Group has initiated a car sharing model where their own manufactured Electrical Vehicle Smart-cars can be rented out typically through Giant Vending Machines. Of course the machine body will be larger in scale and will instead be located in a building that serves as the parking garage but the delivery of the car will work similar to a vending machine.
To make it lucrative and reasonable, the rental of the cars is very moderately priced at $3.25 per hour, providing an option to a middle class citizen to rent a car whenever required instead of buying a car using a major amount of personal resources and of course, these Electrical Vehicle Smart cars overcome the concern of environmental impact arising from petroleum-based transportation models. Secondly, the benefit of the vending machines will be as Kandi already has 50 such automated garages in place and plans to build around 750 more to provide 100,000 cars in and around Hangzhou, you can pick a car from one garage and park it another, giving the consumer varied options and ease of mind.
There is also a battery swapping option available to the renters who do not have the option to install an electric vehicle charger, which will provide an option to replace the discharged battery with a new one and leave the old battery at Kandi’s battery center for charging if one is unable to charge at the urban locations. The model has a potential to topple the standard car buying model by providing consumers with an option and the freedom to choose, backed up by hassle free support.
