If you’re happy and you know It, clap your hands! International Day of Happiness is just around the corner Thursday, 20 March, so clap your hands!
This time United Nations Foundation has partnered with Pharrell Williams and his global hit soundtrack “Happy” to mark Happiness Day in support of humanitarian efforts around the world.
If you have reason to be happy and you want to share your happiness, no matter if you are dancing, singing, or just being joyful, all you have to do is to submit your ‘happiness – thing that makes you happy’ YouTube video to Pharrell’s track ‘Happy’ or Instagram pic to the website 24 Hours of Happiness marked with the hashtag #HAPPYDAY.
The International Day of Happiness, established by the United Nations General Assembly on 28 June 2012, is celebrated throughout the world on 20 March and acknowledges that the “pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal” and recognises that the “gross domestic product indicator by nature was not designed to and does not adequately reflect the happiness and well-being of people in a country”.
The event webpage 24 Hours of Happiness, urges the users to take action by creating a happier world for people everywhere and by raising money for humanitarian efforts and also encouraging fans to make donations to the Central Emergency Response Fund, a fund established to directly support critical aid operations for people affected by natural disasters and armed conflicts.
Video submissions already began on Monday, 10 March and sharing will be open for the next week until World Happiness Day. Pharrell himself will highlight the best video submissions on March 20, at noon in each time zone
