For two days in April next year, Pondicherry will be home to the Green Campus Summit 2013, providing an opportunity for everyone involved in higher education to share thoughts on how to run institutions in a sustainable manner as well as the best methods for teaching students about sustainability.

More than 300 representatives from universities, organisations and governments worldwide will take part and the event will be a catalyst for fostering relationships and exchanging information about implementing sustainable practices into educational institutions such as curriculum innovation, restructuring, action research, activities and practical projects.

Interested in taking part? The organisers are currently accepting abstracts from potential presenters wishing to discuss their work in a number of sustainability-related fields. Suggested themes for abstracts include: environmental education and curriculum development; outreach programmes; managing water resources; green energy; and food security. Anyone interested in taking part must submit their abstract (500 words maximum) by Saturday 15 December.

The Summit is being run by the following organisations and institutions:

  • Association for promoting Sustainability in Campuses and Communities (APSCC), Pondicherry, India;
  • Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Research and Transfer Centre “Applications of Life Sciences”, RCE Hamburg;
  • Region Centre for International Business and Sustainability (CIBS), London Metropolitan University, UK; and
  • Pondicherry University, India.

All the information regarding abstract submission and the Summit itself can be found at the dedicated website.
