SXSW Eco: From Entertainment to Sustainability

South by Southwest (SXSW), known for its music, film and interactive festival, will be hosting its 4th annual sustainability conference, known as SXSW Eco.

South by Southwest (SXSW), known for its music, film and interactive festival, will be hosting its 4th annual sustainability conference, known as SXSW Eco.

The organizers describe the event as gathering “where the urgency of global challenges meets the opportunity for breakthrough innovation”; and just like the original SXSW, the conference will take place Austin, TX, from Oct 6th-8th. This years event will cover topics such as: Advocacy and Policy, Behavior and Design, Big data and Technology, Land and Water, Health and Education, Energy, Food System and Smart Cities.

The conference will feature insightful speakers, workshops, pitch competition and various networking events. Robert D Bullardv (regarded as the “Father of Environmental Justice),  Carey Meyers (Assoc Dir of The Rockefeller Foundation), Eliza Barclay (Science Reporter for NPR) and Julie Felgar (Mng Dir of Environmental Strategy at Boeing), are among this year’s well-known speakers.
