Just have a few hours to volunteer? Speed Volunteer is the place to look for a position or post an offer, offering placements via text message and social media that allow time-poor people the opportunity to volunteer quickly and easily for up to six hours.
Do-it.org along with Team London (London mayor, Boris Johnson’s, volunteering programme) are about to launch a technology platform that will link volunteering positions with people through very limited checks (which are normally uite time-consuming) and uses a faster processing algorithm to match a volunteer with a position (initially, the project will just be used for London-based volunteers and placements).
Be it helping at an home for the elderly, gardening, mentoring kindergarten students or just helping to clean the neighborhood, the platform will offer volunteering work requiring a maximum six hours of people’s time. Allowing this kind of flexibility is aimed at encouraging people who wish to volunteer but feel pressed for time to get involved.
As they state on their page, “Everybody’s got something to offer. Volunteer now.” Do keep a tab on the speed volunteering website, they are all set to launch in the coming autumn.
