A new on-demand medication information start-up is planning to change the face of health care in Africa through a new digital technolgoy platform, providing patients with vital information about how to take their medication right, and helping therefore increase medication effectiveness and reduce drug resistance in the region.
The platform, called MobiDawa, is available on smartphones, computers and tablets. It uses simple text, either in English or in the local language, and easy-to-navigate screens to ensure user-friendliness and a seamless navigation.
Users can search for information about their medication, including how and when to take it and possible side effects. They can set themselves reminders, and even give pharmaceutical companies feedback about possible complications from taking their drugs, therefore providing pharmaceutical companies with an invaluable source of data on the ground.
MobiDawa co-founder James Odede was recently in Berlin, to present his idea at CeBit and then at and re:publica. They have to date secured the support of international pharmaceutical Merck Group.
